Description of the group Chronic Pain Australia understands Chronic Pain. We deliver community-based care and support with compassion. Our members and volunteer staff live with Chronic Pain or have spent many years as health professionals helping people with Chronic Pain. We are the only organisation in Australia run by people living with Chronic Pain.

History of the group In November 2006 Chronic Pain Australia became the only organisation in Australia run by people living with chronic pain. Until that time, there had been no consumer-based organisation for people living with chronic pain to turn to. Chronic Pain Australia’s core objective is to gain recognition of chronic pain as a condition in it’s own right, and as a National Health Priority Area by the Federal Government. We want to end the silent and invisible epidemic of chronic pain in the Australian community. We want to generate awareness, education, empathy and compassion for those enduring the daily experience of chronic pain.
